It is common for newsprint
format publications to
calculate the cost of an
advertisement by each single
column centimetre (SCC). For
example a quarter page ad is 17cm
high x 4 columns wide, making a total
area of 68 column centimetres, which
is then multiplied by the SCC rate to
give the total cost.
